Top Five Ways to Reduce Skin Pimples

Skin Pimples
There is nothing worse than getting up in the morning and getting ready for school or work and look in the mirror to find a couple skin pimples on your nose or forehead. It tends to happen right before the “big day”…picture day, date night, interview day, weekend sleepover, vacation. Sometimes these exciting events can even bring them on with the heightened sense of excitement or nervousness that throw your hormonal/chemical balances completely out of whack. Here are five simple ways to deal with those skin pimple issues when they arise.

Skin Pimples Tip #1 Do not pick!

This cannot be stressed enough because if you start messing with an inflamed follicle (skin pimples), it is only going to make it worse. When you squeeze a skin pimple, you are forcing the excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria deeper into your follicle. In addition, if you do manage to get some stuff to come out, you are getting it on your face and hands and spreading it to other parts of your face. Even if you think you are getting all the stuff out, you could be causing the sides of the follicle wall and send infected material into the innermost section of the skin. That could then lead to nodules or cysts, which are serious, painful, and can only be treated properly by a dermatologist with cortisone shots. Even worse, it could very well cause scarring.

Skin Pimples Tip #2 Wash your face and clean it properly.

Start with carefully washing your face with something that has salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in it. Those are the two main ingredients that help with skin pimples and acne. Make sure you use astringent just to be sure there is no residue left behind from the cleanser or any oils that got missed by the cleanser. As you are going through your cleansing and/or beauty regimen, be sure you are doing so with clean hands. If you are picking at your skin pimples, then wiping your hands on a towel (which has more bacteria), then you are touching makeup and putting it on your face, each procedure is just spreading more bacteria.

Skin Pimples Tip #3 Use an intensive pimple treatment gel or cream on the breakout site.

There are many different products on the market that are spot treatments for the breakout of skin pimples. Again, these are usually benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products that have special functions in reducing and eliminating skin pimples. Salicylic acid opens clogged pores and cleans out the bacteria in skin pimples. The benzoyl peroxide is an antimicrobial agent that will help shed the old skin cells that clog pores and cause skin pimples. You will want to dab one of these types of spot treatments on your pimples with clean, dry hands.

Skin Pimples Tip #4 Girls, find an alternative to makeup if possible.

Wearing layers of makeup when you are in the middle of a breakout may seem to be the most natural thing to do, and probably even more so than any other time. However, this can possibly only make the problem worse or lengthen the time the breakout lasts. Try lining your eyes with a flattering shade and use mascara to make your lashes lush and long, and maybe a neutral shade of gloss. You will bring attention to your eyes and away from the skin pimples. Just try not to layer makeup over it. Allowing it to breathe will help it to heal so much faster.

Skin Pimples Tip #5 At night, toothpaste can be used for more than brushing teeth.

At the end of the day, use your good cleanser to wash off all traces of the day’s toxins and debris. Don’t forget to use the astringent. Use your spot treatment. Then take a dab of white mint toothpaste and dab it over the skin pimples, too. This is a great homemade remedy that will draw out the bacteria and reduce the inflammation. Wash it off in the morning with your usual routine. You can also try these other home remedies: Mix organic cider vinegar and strong green tea—apply to face with a cotton ball. Cut a lime in half and sprinkle sugar or sea salt on it and carefully rub on your face. The sugar or salt will exfoliate, and the lime will work as an astringent. You shouldn’t do this if you have sensitive skin or bad acne. Witch hazel is also a natural astringent that is good if you have dry or combination skin; it’s not as harsh as some other astringents.

Those five tips are great ways to deal with occasional skin pimples and breakouts and will reduce the severity and the duration of the embarrassing event
