Prevent Pimples in Five Easy Steps

There are five simple steps to prevent pimples. This will help you keep them to a minimum and treat them quickly when they do pop up.

Whether you are entering your teen years, your adult years, or your golden years, the need to prevent pimples occurs in almost every age group. Of course, the more susceptible ones are the teens with their fluctuating hormones and sometimes-bad eating habits.

Prevent Pimples Tip #1: Eat well and drink plenty of fresh water.

Eating well will support your body’s natural defenses to prevent pimples. It will help it run at optimum levels, including balancing out hormonal fluctuations and naturally eliminating toxins. Drink plenty of fresh, filtered or natural spring water, at least eight glasses a day. This helps keep your skin hydrated and keeps your body flushed of toxins. Avoid sugary foods, soda, high carbohydrate foods, and highly processed foods. Give your body a good foundation to help it run smoothly and efficiently.

Prevent Pimples Tip #2: Get your rest and relaxation.

When you are not getting enough rest, you will have a tendency to become more stressed and emotionally charged. It is difficult to operate smoothly when you battle fatigue. Stress can cause you to become more emotionally charged, which creates all kinds of negative reactions in your body. Make sure you are getting proper rest at night, and take some time each day to relax to help prevent pimples and outbreaks. For some people that might be curling up with a good book or taking a catnap. For others it might be getting a group of friends together and having a cookout or having game night. Whatever makes you feel relaxed and happy, find ways to incorporate that into your day to de-stress and help prevent pimples.

Prevent Pimples Tip #3: Find good skin care products that work well with your skin type.

Just because you get occasional breakouts doesn’t mean you have oily skin. You can have occasional breakouts when you have dry, normal, or combination skin. Don’t automatically assume you have oily skin if you get pimples. If your skin is combination or dry and you start using skin products for very oily skin, you could aggravate your skin into more breakouts or other problems. There are some very nice products on the market that provide the proper deep cleaning without stripping your face of all hydration and that prevent pimples. Look for products that have some alpha hydroxyl acids and use them occasionally along with other good skin care products. They will help you shed old skin cells that sometimes clog pores and cause pimples.

Prevent Pimples Tip #4: Take supplements that are good for your skin.

Omega 3’s, fish oil, flax seed oil, Vitamins A, C, E, and K all are great supplements to take to help skin and prevent pimples. For those who suffer with acne or frequent breakouts, some studies are showing significant benefit from taking Lactoferrin, which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Complex B vitamins, particularly 6 and 12 are great for skin support. Zinc is a good mineral that Black currant oil and primrose can be found in supplements and they have gamma-linolinec acid (GLA) that is hard to get in diets. It contains healthy fats that are great for skin and hair. Saw Palmetto is also a good herb to take for healthy skin because it helps to balance hormonal disturbances. Natural tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and antiseptic that is safe for daily use on the skin and is excellent to use to prevent pimples.

Prevent Pimples Tip #5: Use makeup that is non-comedogenic.

Non-comedogenic makeup is formulated to not clog pores in the skin. There is a condition called acne cosmetica that is acne caused by makeup irritation and because makeup clogs your pores. You will want to be sure that your moisturizer and foundation especially are specifically non-comedogenic. Sparkly eye shadows may be fun, but often contain mica, which have a tendency to clog pores and irritate follicles. Also, keep in mind that hair products can cause your skin problems like sprays that fall on your face. Many hairsprays and spray products contain waxes, alcohol, and adhesives that you don’t want on your skin. Make sure to protect your skin and face when you use these products to prevent pimples.
